Hailing from Othard, Yisu Khatayin is a well-connected merchant and mage with a wealth of worldly experience. He arrived upon the shores of Eorzea some years ago as a common sailor. An expert in customs law and the transport of sensitive cargo, Yisu has spent many years in service of the Lominsan Arcanist's Guild. He brings his expertise now to Ishgard, where the procurement of imports remains his primary specialty - namely citrus, tea, and various reagents.

Yisu is also a practitioner of medical arts. He offers his services in alchemy, chirurgery, and cosmetic alteration to clients from all walks of life. His services include the mending of complex injuries, remediation of common ailments, treatments to reduce the appearance of aging, and correcting minor blemishes. He guarantees discretion and confidentiality for all clients. Appointments for alchemical consultation are available upon request.

He is also the owner & financier of The Pelican's Quill, Ishgard's premier Vylbrandic teahouse and bakery. When not occupied with his practice, martial training, or the facility's operation, he enjoys hunting, horticulture, bathing, natural sciences, chocobo races and theater.

There is a story which we both inhabit. Look, you've played the game, you know how it all went. We've hit the same beats. I'm the Warrior of Light, savior of Eorzea, hero of the Dragonsong War, liberator of Ala Mhigo, slayer of the End, bearer of memories not-yet-forgotten. And so, perhaps, are you.

In my youth, I followed the One River from its wellspring to sea. My calling found me in Doma, fame and fate the both in Eorzea. Thus I have been carried since, through a series of events with which we are both acquainted.

There are, of course, some differences. There always are. You walk the path, not I, and let none of my choices preclude yours! Forsooth, I hope your Hydaelyn is a kind mistress, and your adventures find you gladly. As for me, I've a habit of following my curiosity further than is advisable. But 'tis by the fruit of that impulse I stand before you now.

So tell me of your journey, stranger. You who have walked so far in these familiar shoes. Let us marvel at how strange the world's become, and see what fate may still await us.

Some additional context-

Regardless of timeline, Yisu's a bit of a dandy. His flamboyance is at odds with the low profile he tries to keep. He's already conspicuous as a Xaela in Ishgard, but he's become embedded in high society regardless by virtue of his connections with the Kraken's Arms. He's moneyed, he has the blessing of House Durendaire, and he's a charismatic fellow.

And he's smuggling Fantasia. Altering one's appearance can be a a time-consuming, intensive process. This process may be supported by the application of various additional masculinizing and feminizing compounds - which he also producres and synthesizes.

It's exhausting keeping up appearances for the noblesse. Despite the silver spoon he's presently holding, Yisu came up as a ruffian, so they say. He still considers himself a tradesman. He prefers the company of commoners, even if his taste for luxury makes him stick out like a sore thumb.

He's a force to be reckoned with, physically. He can fight - barehanded, with a bow, an axe, or means of Arcanima. He often travels in company of his carbuncle, an implication for cutpurses and would-be foes. "Don't even think about it."

He likes wagers - if you're looking to part him from his money, that's the best way to go about it. Though he rarely carries much upon his person; What he doesn't share or spend goes to constant renovation of The Ziz, as he affectionately calls the Pelican's Quill.

Regarding that reality-hopping alter ego... He won't mention it if you don't. Depending on the Yisu Khatyin you've happened upon, he may have no idea what you're refererring to. He's certainly never been to Sharlayan, nor Thavnair, nor Tural. Any accoutrements from such locales are simple curios.

He's a scholar, and an obsessive study. He's passionate about his interests, endlessly curious, and fascinated by anything which pushes the bounds of the mortal body. Ancient Allag is a particular fascination.+ His work.
Merchant or medic - any opportunity to network or snag a promising new client. If you really impress him, he may trust you with some details regarding his trade. Please don't make him regret that.+ The elephant in the room.
There is a Yisu Khatayin who has seen far too much. If you are likewise encumbered by ancient memories, he may lend a commiserate horn to a fellow traveler.

Guidelines:

My preferred tone for RP is realistic, for the most part, though my time is limited so I am pretty casual with it. Looking for friendly conversation and juicy drama. I also love the gothic, body horror, etc, so go ahead and lean in to that if you'd like. No hard limits, just check in with me if you're going in-depth on a sensitive angle.

While adult themes are heavily present in Yisu's story, ERP is not a primary motivator. Please be nice and respect that boundary. Have some discretion, even if he's present at a mature event.

I've written about Yisu (and his Azem) quite a bit. Sorry if it's intimidating! There's no required reading here. Even in his capacity as Warrior of Light more interested in hearing stories than in telling them, anyway. WoL!Yisu is a fun little easter egg and excuse to get silly / self indulgent. Let's roleplay main character syndrome together, if you want.

And as always... Yisu's not me. IC conflict is not a problem I have with you. The things I do with him are not necessarily anything I condone irl, etc etc.
